About the Area

York is in the South-Central region of Pennsylvania and is the 11th largest city in Pennsylvania. York County comprises the York-Hanover, Pennsylvania Metropolitan Statistical Area. York City is the county seat of York. Originally named Yorktown, the Articles of Confederation were drafted and adopted here. York was also the first capital of the United States. York County is on the west bank of the Susquehanna River. The city has been called an “architectural museum,” because the downtown features numerous well-preserved historic structures.

Hanover is well-known as the snack food capital of the world. Hanover is home to numerous brands such as Utz, Snyder’s of Hanover, and Hanover Brands Foods. Codorus State Park just outside the borough is a favorite for anglers and boaters alike. If you have ever wanted to tour a potato chip factory, find the world’s finest harness racing horses, or eat what is possibly the most famous hot dog anywhere, then Hanover is a must-see town on your tour.
