This market consists of the Danville, VA Micropolitan Statistical Area, which includes Pittsylvania County. Danville has long been in a strategic location in southern Virginia as transporters and travelers between Bristol, Charlotte, Charlottesville, Greensboro, Martinsville, Norfolk, Raleigh, Richmond, Staunton, Washington DC, and Winston-Salem frequently pass through the area. The main routes used by those passing through include US Routes 29, Business 29, 58, Business 58, and 311. These routes provide access to Interstates 40, 81, and 85 and facilitate travel to two-thirds of the US’s population within a day’s drive. Danville also has an airport, Danville Regional, Norfolk Southern Rail, and an Amtrak Station. Some of the communities in Pittsylvania County include Berry Hill, Blairs, Brosville, Buford, Chatham (county seat), Dry Fork, Gretna, Hurt, Keeling, Motley, Mt Hermon, Ridgecrest, and Tightsqueeze.
Historically, the City of Danville’s economy was centered on textiles and tobacco. A period of decline after the textile and tobacco industries left caused Danville to be named in 2007 by Preservation Virginia as one of the Most Endangered Historic Sites in Virginia. In the 2020s Danville began experiencing a renaissance. Danville has become a bustling, reenergized community focused on information technology, manufacturing, and recreation. This is thanks in large part to local community leaders actively pursuing modern manufacturing and information technology companies as well as top tier entertainment facilities. The area is filled with shops and tourist attractions.
Danville’s River District is a hot area of the city as old warehouses and manufacturing centers in the district are rehabbed and converted into new types of business facilities and desirable residential units. In 2022, The River District witnessed the relocation of Kegerreis Digital Marketing from Pennsylvania. One of the most impressive desirable residential buildings in the River District is the rehabilitated White Mill, once part of the Dan Mill complex. In December 2024, Ceasar’s Casino opened at the site of an old industrial complex, the old factory was torn down, but its iconic “Three Sisters” smokestacks complex remains as a tourist attraction.
The area is home to five industrial parks, including Berry Hill megasite park. In November 2024, battery separator manufacturer Microporous announced it was building a battery separator manufacturing facility at the park. This facility will make Microporous the first-to-market battery separator manufacturer in the United States. The presence of this facility opens the possibility of EV Battery and Vehicle manufacturing in the same park.
Kegerreis provides advertising opportunities along US 29, US Business 29, US 58, US Business 58, and Mt Cross in Danville.
