About the Area

Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, offers a rich blend of history, culture, and natural beauty, making it an ideal spot for a weekend getaway in PA or a short stop on the way from Harrisburg to State College.

Lewistown, the county seat, was established in 1790 on the site of Ohesson, a former Shawnee village. The county was formed in 1789 and named after Thomas Mifflin, Pennsylvania’s first governor. By 1829, Lewistown had become a key station along the Pennsylvania Canal.

Today, the county’s economy is primarily driven by manufacturing, with industries focusing on steel, machinery, and textiles.

In particular, the advertising opportunities in the market exist along US 22, US 322, US 522, and State Route 655. The towns in which the opportunities are located are Lewistown (county seat), Census-designated places Belleville, Milroy, Reedsville, and Strodes Mills.
