About the Area

Kegerreis’ Dauphin market includes Dauphin County. There are three main regions within this market, the state capitol Harrisburg, Hershey, and “Upper Dauphin.” The entirety of the market is part of the Harrisburg metro area. Originally known as Peixtan, Harrisburg’s second name was Harris’ Ferry because John Harris Sr, one of the first colonists in the area, established a popular ferry across the Susquehanna. Later, residents of the area requested a split from Lancaster county because Lancaster was too far away. The new county was formed from Lancaster and was named in honor of the oldest son of the King of France because he aided the American Rebels during the Revolution.

Harris’ Ferry became known as Louisburg (in honor of French King Louis) and was the county seat from the start. The final name of Harrisburg was given in 1791. Harrisburg became the state capitol in 1810. During the 19th century, the county was known for its canals, railroads, and steel mills. In 1903, Hershey began as a company town surrounding the Hershey Chocolate Company factory owned and operated by Milton S. Hershey. It is now a significant tourism hub.

Kegerreis’ OOH advertising opportunities are located along Interstate 83; US Routes, 22, & 209; and PA Routes 39, 147, 225, 230, & 743; in Harrisburg – 7th Street, South Cameron Street, Paxton Street, South 13th Street, South 17th Street, and South Cameron Street; in Hershey – Grandview Drive, in Middletown – Eisenhower Boulevard and the Harrisburg International Airport Arrival Terminal.
