Clearfield County, located in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, had a population of 80,562 as of the 2020 census. Its county seat is Clearfield, while DuBois is its largest city. The county was established in 1804 and officially organized in 1822, formed from portions of Huntingdon and Lycoming counties. The name “Clearfield” likely originates from the cleared fields in the valleys around Clearfield Creek and the West Branch of the Susquehanna River, shaped by bison herds and the former cornfields of Native American tribes.
