About the Area

In 1836, Clarke County was established by splitting off a portion of Frederick County. The split was a result of a difference in lifestyles between the large landowners east of the Opequon Creek and the German-Scotch-Irish settlers on the west side. A few years later Clarke and Frederick Counties, along with the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia were hotly contested during the Civil War. For more on the culture, history, and present activities of the region, particularly the City of Winchester, tune into the Winchester 101 Podcast by Rouss Review located here.

Main routes through the county are US Routes 50, 340, & 522, and Virginia Routes 7 and 255. The main population centers are Arcadia Farm, Ashby Gap Estates, Berrys, Berryville (the county seat), Boyce, Longwood, Mt. Weather, Wadesville, and Willow Lake.

Kegerreis provides OOH advertising opportunities along US Route 50 around Boyce and Paris, and Virginia 7 around Berryville.
