About the Area

Allegheny County’s seat is Pittsburgh, the second most populous city in Pennsylvania. Pittsburgh is located at the confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers, known as the Forks of the Ohio. The Ohio River is a tributary of the Mississippi River and flows through the Ohio Valley. This waterway into the midwest was highly coveted by colonists, which led both the British and French to attempt to construct lasting fortifications against each other at the Forks and along the rivers in the mid-18th century. The result of the contest for the area was the start of the French and Indian War. In the 19th century, Pittsburgh became the steel manufacturing capital of the United States and a significant railroad hub. Allegheny County’s industrial output and economy is now more diversified with restaurants, medical facilities, financial institutions, and tech companies being economic leaders.

In addition to the railroads and waterways, there are numerous paved routes that provide access to points beyond Allegheny County. These routes include Interstates 76 (Pennsylvania Turnpike), 79, 279, and 376, US Routes 19, 22, and 30, and PA Routes 8, 28, 51, 65, 88, and 576. Traveling by air is possible via Allegheny County Airport, Inter County Airport, Pittsburgh International Airport, Pittsburgh Northeast Airport, and Rostraver Airport. One of the main bridges in Pittsburgh, Roberto Clemente Bridge, is also a tourist attraction.

Kegerreis offers advertising opportunities between Pittsburgh International Airport and downtown Pittsburgh along PA Route 60, Campbells Run Road, Church Hill Road, and Robinson Town Centre Boulevard. Advertising opportunities also exist along US 19 before it intersects with the Interstate 76 and Interstate 79 in Warrendale.
