Reading is the seat of Berks County, located approximately halfway between Philadelphia and the state capital at Harrisburg, in Southeastern Pennsylvania. It can be easily accessed from both Rt. 12 and Rt. 422. Reading is the 5th most populated city in Pennsylvania. It has been known as the “Pretzel City” because of the many local pretzel bakeries. Reading is also located along a major transportation route from Central to Eastern Pennsylvania. Three of Reading’s highest employers are the Reading Hospital, Boscov’s, and the St. Joseph Medical Center. Reading is home of the Reading Fightin Phils, a minor league affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies.
